historic slate roof in Portland, Maine in two large projects. Their work
included the renewal and replacement of the copper valleys and other
areas of flashing and seams, the replacement of large cooper bump-out
roofs surrounding third floor dormers, a complete replacement of cooper
gutters and downspouts and the restoration of slate work as needed. Jeff
Stone and his crew were fastidious in their care for the building and the
workmanship on the roof. They communicated well at every step as the
projects progressed. We are very pleased with the final result, and we have

Jeff and his crew completed a restoration of the mansard on my former property at 143 Pine Street in
Portland’s West End. This project included removal of all slate, fabrication of new copper gutters, flashing
and downspouts, and repair and restoration of the ornate trim on the mansard level of the property. This
project was the first major repair work undertaken on this property since the early twentieth century.
Jeff and his crew conducted themselves with utmost professionalism, showing respect for the character of
the building, the integrity of the materials used in the original construction, and the needs of the residents
of the building during the twelve-month project.
Although I am no longer an owner at this address, I am pleased to have been a part of restoring and
maintaining this grand dame in The West End, and appreciate the integral role that Stone*Henge
